Dear Sri Lankans,
The Department of Pensions has sought the assistance of Sri Lanka Missions to obtain the details of pensioners stranded abroad due to Covid-19 pandemic situation.
As per the regulations, it is mandatory to submit life certificates of pensioners for pension payments. Also pensioners who wish to go abroad should inform the same to the Department of Pensions through Divisional Secretariats before leaving the country. A special payment procedure is followed in payment of pensions for such pensioners.
However, as per the Department of Pensions, Pensioners those who are stranded abroad due to Covid 19 pandemic situation have been reportedly facing difficulties in submitting life certificates to the Divisional Secretariats and thereby undergoing difficulties due to suspension of pension payments.
The Department of Pensions has requested details of pensioners stranded abroad and registered with the Missions for return to Sri Lanka, in order to see the possibilities of payment of payment of pensions in the future.
Therefore, if you are pensioner registered under the Department of Pensions of Sri Lanka and stranded in Indonesia due to Covid -19 pandemic, please send your following details on or before 18 December 2020 to dilini.jayawardhana@mfa.gov.lk.
