Media Release- Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta organizes a Poson Poya
Programme to introduce Sri Lankan Buddhist Heritage to Indonesian Buddhist Associations The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Indonesia organized a Poson Poya Programme on 10 th June 2022 in collaboration with four Theravada Buddhist Associations in Indonesia to introduce Sri Lankan Buddhist Heritage. Members from the Indonesian Buddhists’ Representatives Association (WALUBI), Indonesian Theravada Buddhist Council (MAGABUDHI), Women Theravada Buddhist Group (WANDANI) and Theravada Youth Buddhist Association (PATRIA) attended the event.

The Diplomatic officers of the Embassy made a presentation covering UNESCO World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka, the significance of Poson Poya Day and wellness tourism in Sri Lanka. Key members of the Associations delivered presentations on their organizations and main activities carried out by the above mentioned Associations. It is observed that the said Associations have been carried out different activities in coordination with various organizations in Sri Lanka to give humanitarian assistance, especially when Sri Lanka was facing difficult times.


The Embassy and the Associations decided to develop a mechanism for continued collaboration.
