The Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta celebrated Deepavali, the Festival of Lights on 04 November 2023 at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta.
The event was attended by a large number of representatives from Hindu Community in Indonesia as well as the members of the Association of Sri Lankan Living in Indonesia (ASLI).
The Embassy premises was decorated with Rangoli, colorful floor designs, traditional diyas, the lamps of clay oil lamp, and garland photos of Deities.
H.E. The Ambassador Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage warmly welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the event and highlighted the value of the Deepavali festival and its relevancy to the way of life highlighting the celebration of life’s blessing – the victory of Knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.
A professional and dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer performed the Sri Ganesha Charanam followed by religious observances and bajan.
A delicious dinner served for all participants, and everyone enjoyed the celebrations with good spirit lighting diyas and firecrackers.
