Sri Lanka has fully returned to normal after the recent unrest in a part of Kandy District and all activities including tourism is normal, states the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
The State of Emergency which was imposed purely as a precautionary measure to contain any untoward situation has now been fully removed.
Temporary restrictions imposed on social media platform have also been permanently lifted.
Kandy is now as safe for tourist and any part of the country and the relevant government authorities has assured full security. Therefore, there are no restrictions on visiting any part of the country and tourist area especially encouraged to visit Kandy.
The Ministry of Tourism Development calls upon Head of Mission of the countries that issued temporary travel advisories to initiate measures to withdraw them as soon as possible as there is no longer any justification for such since the situation is now back to normal and full security ensured for tourists.
