The Sri Lanka Trade Information Portal (https://srilankatradeportal.gov.lk/) is a one-stop point for information relating to import into and export from Sri Lanka. Implemented by the Department of Commerce, the portal provides an accessible, logical, helpful gateway for traders to access important regulatory and procedural information needed to export, import and transit. The portal is an important step for the government toward improving the predictability and transparency of the country’s trading laws and processes. The initiative is also in line with the government’s commitment to the requirements of World Trade Organization to comply with Article 1 of the Trade Facilitation Agreement.
Launched by Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce on 20th July 2018, the SLTP is a repository of trade –related regulatory information gathered from forty-three ( 43 ) organization, which are either direct and indirectly involved in the border ( import/export) procedures.
While this is the first time in Sri Lanka’s trading history to have this kind of online repository of trade-related information, it would be constantly updated on the basis of the information that would be provided by the respective 43 organization.
