The Certificate Awarding and Insignia Pinning ceremony of 07th Asymmetric Warfare Course which was conducted by Special Boat Squadron (SBS) of Sri Lanka Navy was held in Trincomalee, on 02nd April 2019.The course was conducted at the Training School in SBS Headquarters, from 07th January to 02nd April 2019. Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe, the Commander Eastern Naval Area graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe mentioned that it is a pleasure for Sri Lanka Navy to share its hard-earned Asymmetric Warfare experiences with friendly foreign countries. Further, he reminded as to how the Sri Lanka Navy was successful in battling out the threat posed by the enemy in the maritime domain.

The three-month long course was comprised of a wide range of Asymmetric Warfare experiences, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP’s) of LTTE sea tigers, weapon training, combat shooting, small group operations, jungle warfare, clandestine maritime operations, small boat operations, field training exercises, survival at sea etc.

22 foreign military personnel were attended the Asymmetric Warfare Course from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia (01 Officer and 02 Sailors from Navy), Maldives, Netherlands, and Pakistan. Apart from that, four officers and four sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy were also followed in this arduous training.
