The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sri Lanka on 09th June 2019 on an invitation extended by President Maithripala Sirisena.

It is his first State Visit following his swearing in as the Indian Prime Minister for the second time

The Indian Prime Minister is the first foreign Head of State visited Sri Lanka after the Easter Sunday attacks.

Prime Minister Modi was ceremoniously received by President Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat. The visiting Head of Government was accorded a Guard of Honour and 19 Gun Salute.

Bilateral talks also held between two leaders during the visit covering various aspects and also discussed on regional security, peace and stability.
