VBSS Course for Foreign Security Personnel Conducted by Sri Lanka Navy

A Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) Course conducted for the partners associated with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Programme commenced at the Training School of Special Boat Squadron (SBS) in Trincomalee on 18th November 2019.

The course has been organized for the fourth time in the year 2019, in collaboration with the UNODC, and it is scheduled to be held for 02 weeks at the SBS Headquarters. Sixteen (16) foreign students including three (03) from the Indonesian Customs, four (04) from the Thailand Marine Police, three (03) from the Vietnam Coast Guard, three from (03) the Coast Guard of Philippines and three (03) from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, are attending the course.

This officer level boarding training will impart the trainees a comprehensive knowledge on VBSS boarding team procedure and Maritime Law Enforcements Operations (MLEO) in territorial waters whilst enabling the participants to pick the brain of experienced Sri Lanka Navy personnel to hone their knowledge mainly on drug identification, drug transferring methods and planning, preparation and boarding procedure.
