LAN Launches Sri Lanka’s First Angel Fund to Invest in Local Start-ups

The Lankan Angel Network (LAN) and Ford Foundation have launched the first Angel Fund in Sri Lanka to catalyze the growth of Sri Lanka’s start-ups ecosystem. The funds will be dedicated in investing, mentoring, and supporting early-stage start-ups across multiple sectors from making investments at the pre-revenue stage and assisting start-ups to identify sources for future finding.

The first of its kind, the management of LAN will identify and evaluate opportunities for investments across Sri Lanka. The goal is to provide wider visibility into the deal flow as well as other processes to better equipped start-ups founders when wider networking and funding opportunities arises.

The Angel Fund received supports from Sri Lankans expatriates in Singapore, UK, Canada, USA, New Zealand, and Australia. In the future, the Fund plans to leverage the available global networks to build bridges to overseas markets for start-ups to scale their products.
