The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma, announced that everything is ready for the construction of Sri Lanka’s first sports University as the premises of Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama, Homagama, to empower children to be successful at the international level through the development of sports skills.

Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma further emphasized that sport is an indicator of development and good health of the country. It may be noted as a sports economy for the country as referred to in the “Vision of Prosperity” declaration of Hon. President Gotabhaya Rajakapksa.

Many extra-curricular activities, such as inter-house sports meets, educational tours, and big matches are take place during the first school term in Sri Lankan school calendar in order to develop healthy and active habits among children.
