The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka take
steps to attract investors in the electric vehicle manufacturing and assembly sector
from Indonesia

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta organized a virtual meeting with the Board of Investment
of Sri Lanka and the members of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association
(Periklindo) to explore opportunities in the Electric Vehicle manufacturing sector including the
possibility of assembly of electric vehicles in Sri Lanka. This virtual meeting was held on 07 th
December 2021.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Yasoja Gunasekera said that Sri Lanka is developing
a strategic plan to promote the electric vehicle in line with renewable energy policy.

Ms. Nilupul De Silva, Director (Investment Promotion) and Mr. Sudath Jayasekara, Deputy
Director (Investment Promotion) presented investment regulations and current market
information and answered several questions raised by the members of Periklindo.

Participation in the meeting from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta included Ms. Heshani
Premathilaka, the Third Secretary (Commercial), Ms. Genesa Lahope (Government Relations
Officer) and Mr. A. Febri Falahuddin (Public Diplomacy Executive).
