Media Release: Enthusiastic response from Indonesian tour operators to visit Sri Lanka

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta promoted Sri Lanka tourism at Siruls Anniversary celebration on 11th March 2023 at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Indonesia with the participation of approximately 100 Indonesian tour operators. The event was organized by PT Sirul Tour & Travel with the theme “Seminar Arrangement Tour; International, Domestic, Umrah and Hajj”.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage invited Umrah pilgrims to visit Sri Lanka on their way back from Mecca. The Ambassador highlighted places to visit in Colombo including Jawatta mosque, Red mosque, Lotus Tower, Port City, Galle Face, Beira lake, Diyatha Uyana, National Sandalwood Garden, and places to do shopping including One Galle face, Crescat Boulevard, Laksala, and Odel.

Tour operators were enthusiastic to know about the current situation and tourist attractive destinations in Sri Lanka. As a next step, the Chairman of PT Sirul Tour & Travel proposed to have a B2B session with Sri Lankan tour operators.

Participation in the event from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta included Mrs. Heshani Premathilaka, Second Secretary (Commercial), and Mr. Febri Falahuddin, Public Diplomacy Officer.
