Embassy Hosts an event to share actual travel experiences of Sri Lanka by Indonesian visitors

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta, in collaboration with the SriLankan Airlines Office in Jakarta, hosted a Sri Lanka promotional event at the Embassy premises on 26 April 2025. The event was attended by several reputed media personnel and travel agents.
The purpose of the event was to share the travel experiences of Indonesians who visited Sri Lanka with the invited media and travel agents, and to disseminate their stories and messages to a wider audience.
Welcoming the gathering, Chargé d’Affaires (a.i.) Nilanthi K. Pelawaththage highlighted is the measures taken by the Government of Sri Lanka to make it easier for tourists to travel to Sri Lanka which include the free tourist visa scheme, the direct SriLankan Airlines flights between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, and the simple, easily accessible ETA system.
During the event, representatives from Theravada Wanitha Indonesia (WANDANI), the Youth Buddhists Association (PATRIA), and food and lifestyle influencer Eric Eko Santoso shared their positive experiences visiting Sri Lanka. WANDANI has organized five consecutive travel groups to Sri Lanka and will send their sixth group, comprising 66 Indonesians, from 10–18 May 2025. A tour group organized by PATRIA visited Sri Lanka in February 2025.
Influencer Eric Eko Santoso visited Sri Lanka from 5–10 April 2025, supported by the Embassy, SriLankan Airlines, and Aitken Spence (Pvt) Ltd.
The visitors’ happy and memorable travel experiences, shared through engaging PowerPoint and video presentations, inspired the media and travel agents to promote Sri Lanka on a larger scale. Many presenters referred to Sri Lanka as a ‘Hidden Gem’. The media and travel agents eagerly cleared their doubts during the Q&A session that followed.
The event concluded with the serving of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine.
