Iftar gathering at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Indonesia – 7 March 2026

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta, in collaboration with the Association of Sri Lankans in Indonesia (ASLI), hosted an Iftar gathering at the Embassy premises on 7 March 2026, as a mark of respect for the religious traditions of both the Sri Lankan Muslim community living in Indonesia and Indonesian friends. The event celebrated Sri Lanka’s multicultural diversity.
The gathering brought together members of the Sri Lankan community and Indonesian well-wishers, who took part in Islamic religious observances, including the rituals associated with breaking the fast.
Welcoming the guests, Ambassador-designate Sashikala Premawardhane highlighted the significant contribution made by the Sri Lankan Muslim community towards Sri Lanka’s prosperity and progress since independence including the significant contributions made on safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and harmony among communities.
The event concluded with the serving of delicious Sri Lankan cuisine to the attendees.
