The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Indonesia celebrated Vesak Day in collaboration
with the Association of Sri Lankans living in Indonesia at the Embassy premises on 26 May
2024.


The event, included a Dhamma Sermon by the Chief Incumbent of the Vihara Siddharta in
Jakarta, attended by around 100 Sri Lankan and Indonesian Buddhists. The Embassy
premises were adorned with the Vesak lanterns, Buddhist flags and lighting to symbolize the
Sri Lankan Vesak traditions.


During the event, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Indonesia Admiral (Prof.)
Jayanath Colombage welcomed the gathering and briefed them on the historical Buddhist
relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.


Indonesian Buddhists from various Buddhist Associations along with the Sri Lankans living in
Indonesia, enjoyed delicious Sri Lankan cuisine, at the end of the celebrations.
