The Sahabat (Best Friend) Sri Lanka Program was attended by Indonesian youth aged 17-30 years at the Sri Lankan Embassy premises in Jakarta on 25 August 2023. The majority of participants were International Relations students from various universities in Indonesia, such as the Budi Luhur University, University of Indonesia, Diponegoro University, President University, Binus University, and so on.

The event began with a demonstration of Sri Lankan unique foods, Kottu Roti and Cutlets, which were hosted by the Sri Lankan Embassy. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN, H.E. Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage, Madam Srima Colombage, and all staff of the Sri Lankan Embassy participated in this event. The participating students got hands-on experiences in preparing the Sri Lankan delicacies and thoroughly enjoyed the interactive cooking session.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka, H.E. Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage accompanied by embassy staff including the Minister Counselor (Defence) and the Second Secretary (Commercial) had a dialogue and discussion about the Blue Economy. The Ambassador explained how Sri Lanka has played a role in the Blue Economy and invited all participants to participate in protecting the oceans. All participants carried out the discussion by enjoying Cutlets as snacks and were very enthusiastic because many questions and responses were addressed to the Ambassador.

The Sri Lankan Embassy team also gave prizes to the participants from Sahabat Sri Lanka, for a quiz on diplomatic relations and history between Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The event was closed with a group photo session, and eating Kottu as the main course, with Sri Lankan Ceylon tea and a delicious caramel pudding.
