The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta in collaboration with other stake holders facilitated the repatriation of 109 Sri Lankans including short term visitors, persons who have lost legal status and employment and many others on humanitarian grounds from Indonesia on 10th August 2020 by Sri Lankans Airlines special flight UL 1365. A senior military officer who had completed training in Jakarta was also included into the group. All passengers underwent rapid or PCR testing prior to the departure.

Over a period of three months, the Embassy facilitated the extension of visa and immigration waivers for the above stranded Sri Lankans. The embassy also provided financial assistance to obtain food and medical care to those in need with the generous assistance extended by the Sri Lankan well-wishers.

The Embassy extends its warmest appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Presidential Secretariat, Sri Lankan Airlines, Civil Aviation Authority in Sri Lanka, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Directorate General of Immigration of Indonesia, Association of Sri Lankans in Indonesia and well-wishers for supporting the Embassy and these Sri Lankans.
